Training & Development
Each of our business areas offers a range of benefits and packages which will reflect your progress and achievements. We recruit and develop people to reach their potential through a variety of Graduate Development Programmes. In addition to ‘on-the-job’ training, there will also be a number of formal training courses. This typically includes Presentation Skills, Interpersonal and Team Work Skills, Project Management and Career Management Training.

Details on our five Graduate Development Programmes


Group Graduate Development Programme(incorporating Group, Retail Financial Services Ireland, Manufacturing and Risk).
This is an 18-month programme during which time graduates have the opportunity to undertake three rotations across Bank of Ireland Group. Typically graduates are placed in strategic as well as customer relationship roles.

Business Banking Professional Development Programme
This programme runs for three years where graduates gain broad experience in retail banking and support areas including sales, relationship management and portfolio understanding.

Finance Professional Development Programme
This programme offers graduates contracts of up to four years to study for ACA, ACCA and CIMA qualifications, while working in areas within Bank of Ireland Group such as Investor Relations, Group Management Accounts and Group Internal Audit.

Actuarial Programme – Bank of Ireland Life
This programme offers graduates an opportunity to train and develop in the world of Actuary. The duration of the programme is 2 years and in this time you will gain a deep understanding of Actuarial Principles in the Life and Pensions Industry while continuing your professional exams.

Capital Markets Graduate Programme
Capital Markets is a globally focused international division of Bank of Ireland Group. During this 18 month programme graduates will undertake three 6 month rotations and have the opportunity to work within some of the following Capital Markets businesses; Corporate Banking, Global Markets, BIAM, IBI Corporate Finance and BOISS.
